"Teelers come from behind to win Super Bowl XI" They did it!!! The Teelers overcame history to become the first team to come from behind to win a Super Bowl!
The Teelers pulled out yet another dramatic come from behind win as they demolished the Terrors to win Super Bowl XI capping off a season that featured multiple come from behind moments for the "Teeler Nation" but none was as dramatic or important as what they did today as they become the 5th franchise in TBL history to be crowned champion, joining the Rebels (6), Bombers (2), Replacements (1) and Jackrabbits (1) as teams that are apart of the exclusive club.
Facing a 38 point deficit and having history against them, the Teelers exploded for the singles highest scoring week in league history as the team put up a whopping 349 points against the Terrors in week 17 to bring home the win as they defeated the Terrors 530-394.
Their final combined score of 530 is also a new high water mark for points scored in a Super Bowl destroying the previous high of 432 set by the Jackrabbits a year ago.
The Terrors held their own this week as they continued to be the most consistent team in TBL in 2008 as they scored 175 points (which would have beaten all but one other team this week) but they just did not have the firepower to hang with the Teelers who made TBL history as the first team to ever come from behind entering week 17 of the Super Bowl. Teelers QB Jay Cutler was named Super Bowl MVP.
To add insult to injury to the Terrors, the Teelers also landed the #1 overall pick in the 2009 TBL entry draft as the Jousters "won" the TBL Toilet Bowl against the Atoms. The Teelers now own the top three picks in the 2009 draft and will look to add to their wealth as they have one of the most talented teams in TBL and will now get the opportunity to add several high quality players in the draft to keep their franchise on top for many, many years.
TBL Commissioner Rob Lee congratulated the Teelers GM in person as TJ Gallo attended the game at the Commissioner's house along with Atoms GM Adam Taylor
In Pro Bowl news the AFC defeated the OFC by a score of 273-237 to take home bragging rights along with the 10 blb which will be awarded to each AFC franchise's blb vault. |
